Background

Alexis was born in Arlington VA, but spent several years living in South America as a child. She learned to read on the "Archie." Romance, and Horror comic books she found in her grandmother's attic. In high school she became very involved in the theatre, behind the curtain as well as in front of it, and this theatrical influence remains visible in her artwork.

Her interest in photography came from a desire to take quality reference photographs for her illustrations. Her interest in documentary photography grew from her work photographing local music groups and her own political concerns.

Alexis is graduating from James Madison University in May 2006 with a BFA.
